New Year's Eve Intercontinental Wedding

We recently had the honor of filming a beautiful New Year's Eve wedding at the Intercontinental Hotel in Boston.  The traditional Greek ceremony at St. Nectarios was followed by a grand reception at the Intercontinental which featured two live bands, exquisite lighting and even fireworks at midnight on giant projection screens surrounding the ballroom.  Above is the movie trailer showing just a few highlights of the footage we shot that evening.

Love Story Videos

A Love Story Video from Pirates Lane Video is the perfect way to tell your story to friends and family at your reception.  We can even produce DVD's for you to send out as a video engagement announcement.  After discussing your love story with you and deciding on the right approach for your Love Story Video, videographer Jim Merchant will spend several hours shooting video and interviews of the two of you in a scenic location of your choice.  The footage will be edited down into a short film of 5-10 minutes.

The following Love Story Video was shot in Boston, edited for the cinematic look that the couple was looking for in their video and shown at their wedding reception in India.

(For smoother playback, after clicking play, pause the video until progress bar is full.)

If you need a Love Story video for your wedding or to use as an engagement announcement but do not need videography services for your wedding you can get our Love Story video production as a stand-alone package.  The standard package includes up to four hours of video production including interviews and scenic shots of the two of you together, fully edited with music and titles/effects as needed and delivered on DVD and as a 1080p HD download.

Pictures of Secondary Color Correction

I recently wrote an article on secondary color correction.  The following images are for illustrative purposes to accompany the article.

In this image there were several elements with a hint of yellow in them.  In order to remove them without taking any yellow out of the dress I created a duplicate track of the same shot but in black and white.  I made the black and white the top layer and used a cookie cutter plug-in to cut out the image of the girl revealing the girl in the image below which had the secondary color correction filter.  The cookie cutter had to be animated because it was a handheld shot.

This is a cropped image from a video still in which I isolated the pink roses in the bouquet.  You will notice I didn't take the extra step of isolating it with a cookie cutter, leaving a pink shadow under the curtain.  The room was filled with pink dresses and walls so the reflected light filled the shadow.

Bridal Show at Misselwood

Pirates Lane Video recently visited Misselwood at Endicott College, where we are a preferred vendor, for their bridal show.  In spite of the snow that wouldn't let up, there was a good turnout for the show.  The whole first floor of the mansion was packed with vendors and couples. Our setup in the library included a special highlights video we shot at a Misselwood wedding last summer which can be viewed below.  If any Misselwood couples that didn't make it to the show would like a copy of the special demo dvd we gave out just send an email.

The Salem Dog Wedding

On June 25th, 2010 Pirates Lane Video was at Salem Willows Beach to shoot The Salem Dog Wedding.  Sharon Shea of Salem Design had organized the wedding as a community event to marry her two schipperkes Cricket & Black Magic.  The event was attended by the ladies of Brookhouse where Cricket works as a therapy dog, as well as many members of the local community who brought their owners with them.  That evening Cricket and Black Magic were treated as pampered guests at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA.

Wendy & Tom's Wedding

Wendy & Tom opted for our Gold Wedding Videography Package adding a second videographer for their traditional church wedding. Having a second videographer makes a big difference during the wedding ceremony adding a lot more variety of shots as well as the opportunity to catch moments that might otherwise be missed.  Their reception was at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.  Thanks to Wendy's recommendation we will also be producing her sisters wedding video this winter.

Phillips Brooks House Weatherization at Harvard

On May 2, 2010 student volunteers organized by the Harvard Office of Sustainability undertook the challenge of weatherizing the Phillips Brooks House in Harvard Yard.  About 50 students along with professionals volunteering their time worked multiple projects throughout the building to prevent air leaks, reduce electricity and water consumption and to encourage recycling and conservation.  Jim Merchant of Pirates Lane Video was there to produce a short documentary video of the project for the Office of Sustainability.  More information about the project and other sustainability projects at Harvard can be found on their website at green.harvard.edu.Harvard students raising a banner at the Phillips Brooks House
