If your project calls for animation we may be able to help with that as well.  Pirates Lane Video uses Poser Pro software to create 3d scenes and character animation.  We do not do 3d modelling in-house but can use any of the thousands of available characters, props and scenic elements to create detailed and artistic animated sequences for your film or video.

Note: We have very specific abilities and limitations with animation based on both our software and hardware capabilities. Computer animation is a very time consuming process and will be priced accordingly.  Please contact us to discuss your specific needs and we will provide you with a quote.

If you represent a non-profit organization which would like to make a documentary film highlighting a subject for the internet or a DVD, we can help you make it a realistic and affordable project.

Similarly if you are an individual with a passion for a subject and wish to produce a documentary about it we may be able to help.

[Please note that if your film is intended to highlight a commercial product than your film will fall under the category of Corporate video as these involve different production techniques and generally much tighter schedules.]

Because of the nature of documentary film-making we can generally do the actual filming for a much lower cost than films which cover live one-time-only events such as weddings and concerts.  Documentaries also have a cost advantage over corporate video in that they don't have the same time constraints and production requirements.

If you have or can develop a script (or at least a detailed outline) for your film, the subject matter is readily accessible, and you can work on a flexible schedule than your documentary can be made for a very reasonable price.

Our professional HD cameras can capture video that looks like it was shot on film, and our 24bit audio recording capabilities and high quality microphones can produce film quality sound.  In addition, our tapless workflow (everything uses SDHC flash cards) and Non-linear editing makes our post production very efficient and affordable.

If you have a script for a short film that you wish to shoot to highlight your writing and/or acting talents please send me an email with a description of your project.

We understand that budgets for these projects are usually very small or non-existent but with some careful planning we may be able to make it work.  If you have the script, actors and an available location to shoot in we can offer our services at a very reasonable price by scheduling your shoot on an off day (weekday, or maybe a Sunday on a slow weekend).  We can then work your editing in around other projects to minimize the cost of the editing.

Our Panasonic cameras shoot 1080-24p with "Cine-like Gamma" and "Cine-like Color" at up to 21Mbps, enabling us to shoot your independant film so that it really looks like film.  Your film can then be output at full resolution for film transfers or reduced to 720-24p 4Mbps (or lower) for internet streaming.
